Report Summary and Navigation Map
- On the Left: There are 6 charts providing information on some key data points.
- On the Right: The map is clickable allowing you to select a Community Area (or Ward) to view. To view Chicago as a whole, type "Chicago" into the selector box.
Note: Use the main menu options to change between Community Areas and Wards.
Chart Close Up
- Clicking the ? (question mark) in the top right of a chart will display a brief description of the data point.
- Hovering over a chart will display the specific data values.
Scrolling down reveals the full online version of the report. There are several tabs, each presenting the same data points, but in different ways.
Full Report - Details View
- The Details tab shows the report using charts, maps and tables.
- The data points are divided into sections, each with a header and short description.
- Each data point is presented with a short title and description.
- There is a "More on..." link that will expand to show a map and data table.
- There are several short data statements specific to the chosen community area (or ward).
- A chart displays the data over time (this is the same chart as seen on the Charts tab).
- This page is quite long, the "Data Menu" on the right can be used to quickly jump to a section.

Note: If viewing Chicago, this display will show all Community Areas (or Wards), if viewing a specific Community Area or Ward, census tracts will be shown.
- On the Left: A shaded choropleth map to help visualize the data.
- On the Right: A table with the data values for each year. The map and table are linked, clicking on the map highlights the corresponding row of data in the table and vice versa.
- The map can display data for 2010, 2017 or overtime averages.
- A few statements describing the data, with a link to our methodology for more information.
Data Menu
- As noted above, there is a "Data Menu" on the right side of the screen that will expand to show links that can be used to quickly jump to a section.
Full Report - Data Tables View
- The Data Tables tab shows the data points by year.
- Years are presented by tabs.
- The first 2 columns of data are Chicago, followed by data for the chosen Community Area (or Ward). The table header and column shading hopefully helps make this clear.
- The data points are divided into sections, each with a header.
- Below each header are several rows of related data.
